The study recapitulate briefly the state of the Egyptian economy and its problems (June 2004), then, goes on to discuss how the ongoing reforms are addressing some of these problems, and, finally, touches on future challenges for realizing Egypt’s potential as a dynamic, private-sector driven market economy, well integrated into the global economy. These challenges, as the IMF noted after praising recent reforms, are considerable.
