  • The Arab Monetary Fund Released the “Joint Arab Economic Report (JAER), 2015

Arab Monetary Fund has released the English version of the Joint Arab Economic Report (JAER), 2015. The Report presents an overview of economic developments in the Arab countries. It starts with a brief review of the performance of the global economy Chapter 1 followed by economic and social developments in Arab countries Chapter 2. Chapters 3 and 4 deal with developments in the agricultural and the industrial sectors in Arab countries respectively, while Chapter 5 focuses on developments in oil and energy sectors. Chapter 6 reviews public finance developments and Chapter 7 addresses developments in monetary policy, banking and financial markets. Chapter 8 outlines developments in international and intra-regional trade, and Chapter 9 describes developments in the balances of payments, external public debt and exchange rates in Arab countries.


The thematic Chapter of the report, Chapter 10 addresses the issue of “Improving Linkages Between Education System and Labor Markets in Arab Countries”. Chapter 11 sheds lights on Arab Development Assistance. Chapter 12 is focusing this year on Arab cooperation in the Field of “Marine Transport and Logistics”. Chapter 13 highlights major developments in the Palestinian economy in 2014. Finally, tables relevant to each chapter are annexed to the report.


It is worth mentioning that, the JAER is an annual report on economic developments in the Arab countries prepared jointly by the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF), the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, the League of Arab States and the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC). The Arab Monetary Fund has responsibilities for editing and publishing the JAER since 1980.
