This study tests the hypothesis that Egypt’s experience with FDI (from the initiation of liberalized policies since 1974) does not show that FDI exerts a positive influence on employment. The study argues that this is because FDI is not an aggregate phenomenon, rather, FDI has different components: Greenfield FDI and mergers and acquisitions.
