Energy
This chapter analyses the relationship between energy use and poverty in developing countries. It describes current patterns of energy use, including rates of electrification. A unique, country-by-country database was especially prepared for this study. This chapte rdetails electricity access and the way households make the transition from traditional fuels to modern forms of energy. It projects biomass use and electricity access rates for the next three decades. It assesses the factors behind these trends, including policies to promote investment in electricity supply and to make electricity more affordable for poor people.
